Access to Food When You Need It

An open refrigerator with eggs and other itemsDo you need food or other groceries? Do you find yourself in need when other sources are not available? The Community Fridge can help! The fridge is a place where you can take food that you need or give food you can spare.

It is located in the SW corner of the parking lot located at 13th and Harvey in Berwyn, IL across the street from Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church. The fridge is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year to the local Berwyn, Cicero and Chicago’s Austin communities.

Inside you will find various dairy, meat, and other perishable food items. Often, fresh fruits and vegetables are also available, especially in the summer and fall when our partnership with Berwyn Roots – A Community Garden Movement generously donates some of their crop to the Community Fridge. Their complimentary mission of fighting food insecurity in the local community helps our Community Fridge stay well stocked with nourishing food for those that need it.

There are also pantry shelves next to the fridge that offer other non-perishable food staples. We are grateful for all that participate in giving or receiving from the Ebenezer Community Fridge.

Take what you need. Give what you can.
